A super start to the 2010 trout-fishing season at Eyebrook although the past week has certainly seen some very changeable weather and very low daytime temperatures, despite this, for the anglers that have braved the elements, the trout fishing has been rewarding.

Stuart Ingledew of Hexham took one of the heaviest fish of the week, a super 9lb 12oz rainbow. Stuart with his friends, Jamie Eale’s and Ben Blake also of Hexham, paid the fishery a flying visit and between them caught fifteen cracking fish on Cats Whiskers.

Veteran season ticket holder Dennis Goodman of Market Harborough bank fished at the Bell and took eight fine rainbows for 18lb 8oz: Dennis took all of his fish on a Silver Invicta.

Tony Hamilton of Lyddington fished the Rutland bank and took three rainbows for 9lb 7oz: Tony caught on a Black and Green Nomad.

Season ticket holder David Dickinson of Welton in the Marsh, Spilsby took four good rainbows from The Bell on a Montana nymph: Dave’s fish weighed 12lb 6oz. Jaroslav and Miroslav Lesundak of Slovakia took six nice rainbows for 14lb 6oz from the Hawthorns on Black and Green Tadpoles.

Alan Goddard and Dean McGeehan of Markfield took twelve rainbows for 34lb 8oz while boat fishing off The Chestnut Tree.

Don Herring accompanied by his boat partner of many years, John Riddle, both of Melton Mowbray, fished from a WheelyBoat at The Willows. Don took a super 5lb 2oz rainbow included in his bag of six fish that tipped the scales to 18lb 2oz: John also took six good fish.

Larry Hawke’s of Corby boat fished and took four cracking rainbows for 12lb 8oz on a Pheasant tail nymph from Sams Dyke; Larry’s heaviest fish weighed 4lb 6oz. Norman Thompson of Billinghay boat fished off the Three Tree’s and took eight rainbows for 23lb 4oz: Norman took his fish on Crunchers and Buzzers.
