26th April to 3rd May 2010Chironomids abound, so Buzzers are the order of the day at Eyebrook Trout Fishery. Anglers using floating lines and a team of size 12 Buzzer’s or Diawl bach fished conventionally or under the ‘bung’ are enjoying some exceptional sport at the Welland Valley fishery.
The Hawthorns area has been one of the most popular fish catching spots on the reservoir this week.
Gordon Slack, John Dews and Tony Broadway of Coventry all fished at The Hawthorns and enjoyed spectacular sport to the Buzzer, all three anglers recording limit bags.
Don Ropper, also of Coventry, took five rainbows for 20lb 12oz and included a super 8lb 8oz specimen in his bag while bank fishing at The Bell; Don caught his fish on a Damsel pattern.
Peter Bridges of Great Easton had some fun bank fishing from The Stones and caught some good fish on a Gold head Hares ear nymph; Pete’s best rainbow weighed 4lb 8oz
Boat anglers Richard Vigus accompanied by Anton Shoolheifer of Herts. fished off The Three Trees area and took sixteen rainbows on Silver Invicta; the pair also returned four more fish on catch and release.
The best fish of the week a cracking rainbow that weighed 10lb 1oz fell to the rod of Jim Watts of Market Harborough; Jim took the specimen on a Winged Wickham.
Phil Harries of Stamford boat fished at Robbo’s Cabin with Black Buzzers fished on a floating line and took eight fine rainbows for 20lb 7oz.
Good to see our friends of old from Thrybergh recently, hope to see you all again soon, lads.
Boat fishermen James Hodson of Norwich accompanied his friend Simon Fraser of Leeds and caught thirteen good rainbows for 34lb; most of the pair’s fish taken on Diawl bach at The Willows.
