All Anglers
Safety Rules and Fishing Etiquette have been designed to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience at Eyebrook.

Please note:
Fishery Management has the right to refuse or ban any angler if he /she infringes or is thought to have infringed any of the Rules.

Every angler must make himself familiar with these Safety Rules:
 
  1. Wear head and eye protection at all times.
  2. Wear suitable footwear, clothing and sunscreen.
  3. Take care when back casting - always look behind you.
  4. Take a mobile phone with you, emergency numbers are displayed in the Fishing Lodge and boats;see below.
  5. Be aware of Weils disease - Please wash your hands.
  6. Report any accidents or incidents to Fishery Wardens.
  7. Stop fishing in thunderstorms and lay your rods down.
  8. Take care when fishing from the dam wall as it can be slippery.


    Don’t leave line, metal cans or other rubbish on boats or bank, they can be a hazard to humans and wildlife.
 
Bank Anglers
All bank anglers must adhere to these safety rules:
 
  1. Lifejackets are compulsory on the dam wall.
  2. Waders must not be worn on the dam wall.
  3. Do not step below the safety rail on the dam wall.
  4. No wading is allowed from the dam wall or netted bank areas.
  5. Please exercise caution at all times on the dam wall; the slope can be very slippery.
  6. Access to the dam wall is prohibited when frosty or icy.
  7. Bank anglers can expect boats to remain 50 metres away from them. However bank anglers must not fish too close to boat anglers who are already positioned near the bank.
  8. Never wade more than waist height and keep in sight of other anglers where possible.
  9. Chest waders are permitted.
  10. For wading generally, the use of a wading stick is advised.
 
Boat Anglers
Boats can be hired for anglers use. You can reserve a boat in advance, but boats booked will only be reserved until 10am. Please notify the fishing lodge of any cancellations or special circumstances before that time.

All boat anglers must adhere to these safety rules:
 
  1. Before setting out please check that your boat is properly fitted out with oars, rowlocks, baler and an anchor. If you are unsure of the operation of the outboard motor, please ask a Fishery Warden for assistance.
  2. Lifejackets must be worn on the pontoons, landing stages and boats at all times and are available at the Fishing Lodge. IMPORTANT: Lifejackets must be worn outside clothing.
  3. All waders are prohibited on the pontoons, landing stages and boats.
  4. Take care when embarking/disembarking. Step on or off the boat before passing kit to your boat partner.
  5. If you are alone ask for assistance if required.
  6. Anglers are advised to remain seated at all times.
  7. Long blasts on the klaxon indicate a call to stop fishing and return to the Fishing Lodge or nearest safe bank.
  8. Fishery staff have the right to refuse access to the reservoir.
  9. Fire extinguishers (stored under boat seat) should be used in the case of a fuel spillage – if used please report to a Fishery Warden.
  10. Please notify staff of any life jackets that have been inflated and need recharging
